An unforgettable Valentine's Day

Dear Parents and Students,

Our week kicked off with Morris Gleitzman who visited our school on Valentine’s Day!  We were all so privileged!  He is a friendly man with a great sense of humor, and who has very interesting stories to tell – and write!  We all got a signed bookmark from him and most of them are already in use!  Valentine's Day 2011 will surely be unforgettable!

Here is our class with Morris Gleitzman:

Morris Gleitzman signed the books written by him that we had bought:

Curriculum Progress for Week 3:
Math:  We finished Chapter 12 about Time and Temperature.
Science:  We worked very hard on Chapter 9 about our Solar System. We finished the first two lessons of Chapter 9.
English:  We finished Unit 7 in our booklets. We will practice more on writing a personal narrative in Week 3.
(Social Studies: We will continue with Social Studies as soon as we finish Unit D in Science.)

Everyone needs to bring a shoebox (with its lid) to school not later than Monday, February 21st.  You will need these boxes during Music class.  You are going to make guitars out of the shoeboxes!  Exciting times!

Remember about the Planet Presentation!  All the Gr.3's  are almost finished with their PowerPoint documents.  Students, remember to make some cue cards and come present your inner and outer planet on Friday, February 25th.

It is Johnson Chiu’s birthday on Saturday, February 19th.  Happy Birthday, Johnson!  We hope that you will have an unforgettable birthday and we wish you a wonderful year ahead.

Our student of the week is Sharon Tang.  Sharon is improving tremendously and her scores are always outstanding!  She is giving 100% in all areas of school.  Congratulations, Sharon!  You are a star!

What a privilege to meet this well known Australian author on Valentine’s Day!  Students, to make Valentine’s Day more festive, let us all wear pink, red and/or white on Monday.
