The Second Semester...

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to a new semester. I hope you all had an unforgettable Chinese New Year vacation.

We are very happy to have two new students in our class from this semester. We want to warmly welcome Kevin Yang and Johnson Chiu to our Gr.3 team -“You fit right in!”

I am very excited about our Valentine’s Day activity.  Morris Gleitzman will be here on Monday, February 14th!  Students, remember to bring your Morris Gleitzman books to school on Monday, to be signed by the author. What a privilege to meet this well known Australian author on Valentine’s Day!  Students, to make Valentine’s Day more festive, let us all wear pink, red and/or white on Monday.

Curriculum Progress for the first week of the second semester:

Math:  We reviewed and students were tested on Chapters 10 and 11.  We started with Chapter 12 and we learnt about time measurement this week.
English:  We started with Unit 7 this week and we are learning how to write a personal narrative.  We learnt about good beginnings and endings in a personal narrative.
Science:  We are nearly finished with Chapter 8. We learnt about the water cycle and the weather.
Reading:  We started with Theme 4 and our first story was about puffins, pufflings and their habitats.

Students, remember about Monday’s Science test. Study hard. Also keep in mind that the Planet Presentation is on February 25th

This week we had two birthday celebrations.  It was Shawn Kao’s birthday on February 9th and Sharon Tang’s birthday on February 10th. We all got spoiled with super delicious pizzas, cake and snacks. Thank you, Shawn and Sharon. Happy birthday! We hope that the year to come will be an unforgettable one with good health and lots and lots of happiness.

Our student of the week is Ryan Huang.  Ryan is a very good example of a student who is working very hard and putting in extra effort.  Congratulations, Ryan.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
